Groundwater Bioremediation Product: A-SOX,
The Easiest Deep Plume and Routine Deployment of Integrated
Carbon, ZVI and Nutrients
Affordable, Effective Socks for Stimulating
Anaerobic Biodegradation in Groundwater Wells

A-Sox™
BOSTON, Feb. 15, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Adventus Group,
a global environmental biotechnology enterprise, announced
the introduction of A-SOX™ for groundwater well treatment
of organic constituents amendable to anaerobic biodegradation
processes. Designed by field engineers as a time and money
saving innovation, this delivery system is most conducive
to physically challenging situations where a readily biodegradable
carbon source and reduced iron are needed to induce in-situ
chemical reductions (ISCR) of targeted compounds such as
chlorinated solvents, energetics, and pesticides.
Application is for stimulation of anaerobic biodegradation
of groundwater contaminants using EHC®, which is deployed
in the wells with the A-SOX™ delivery system. EHC is a
proprietary, field-proven compound containing a long-term
source of controlled-release carbon, ZVI and nutrients.
Benefits of EHC®:
- ISCR science promoting biotic, abiotic, thermodynamic
and chemical degradation mechanisms.
- Readily biodegradable
Hydrogen donor.
- Unique mode of action does not require use of specialty
microorganisms.
Benefits of the A-SOX™ Delivery System:
- All field proven benefits of EHC.
- Substantial time
savings on the job.
- Reusable stainless steel canisters
easy to insert and retrieve.
- Ease of determining exact
depth at which the product is deployed.
- Socks and canisters
available for 2" and 4" wells.
- Up to three canisters
may be suspended in-line to lengthen the active zone.
- Even distribution of active material over the length
of the canister(s) because the socks do not collapse
or bunch up.
Frequently Asked Questions:
- How much do they cost?
- 2-inch A-SOX cost $120 and 4-inch A-SOX cost $160.
Volume discounts may apply. Recover the canister cost
in your first installation.
- Why should field contractors use A-SOX technology?
- A superior product, designed by people who do the
work. The design and ease of application immediately
translates into greatly reduced field time and frustration,
which means reduced project costs.
- Is it easy to switch to A-SOX
technology?
- Yes. EHC-A has been accepted by numerous state regulatory
authorities, and has been employed throughout the
USA and Europe.
- How long do they last?
- A-SOX have longevity of approximately 250 days,
but replacement on a longer or shorter schedule can
be optimized based on monitoring results. Various
site-specific factors will influence effective lifetime
of the A-SOX cartridge; mainly i) constituent type
and concentration, and ii) hydrogeological features
(groundwater flow rate, Eh, pH, temperature).
- Do I need to install new wells?
- No. A-SOX technology is designed to fit standard
2-inch and 4-inch diameter groundwater monitoring
wells. The canisters have an outside diameter of 1.75
inches for the 2-inch size and 3.5-inches for the
4-inch size.
- Where are they primarily used? SOX can be used in
existing or newly-installed wells, either in natural
or forced gradient flow systems.
