Update on Ongoing Patent Infringement Issues

FREEPORT, Ill. (January 13, 2009) – Adventus Americas Inc. and EnviroMetal Technologies Inc. (hereafter referred to as Adventus Group) provide the following update concerning patent litigation issues.

As you know, the Adventus Group, including EnviroMetal Technologies Inc., holds various patents for in situ remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater by trenching, injecting or otherwise placing iron below ground. The genesis of our patents is the work of Dr. R. W. Gillham at the University of Waterloo, which began in the late 1980's, and the early 1990’s research of Dr. Alan Seech. Since issuance of the patents, our methods have been widely and effectively used, domestically and internationally, through direct sales of our products and via our licensing program.

Not withstanding the fact that the Adventus Group holds such patents, some individuals and entities have copied our methods, without paying for them, and sought to market our methods as their own. Some of these same individuals and entities have made factually inaccurate representations in an effort to deceive the public about the effectiveness of their product or method and, further, have disparaged our ideas and methods with the same intentions.

Over the years a number of entities have tried to appropriate our technologies without respecting our patent rights by paying industry-standard royalties to Adventus. In each and every one of these instances, they have ultimately been required to acknowledge our patent rights and pay royalties. The most recent issue related to the Adventus Group’s patent suite involves Remediation Products Inc. (RPI) and their BOS-100 product. As a result, we are currently involved in a lawsuit in the Middle District of North Carolina against RPI.

We understand that several of Adventus Group's clients and colleagues in the industry have received inaccurate, second- or third- hand "spin" about the current status of our law suit with RPI. Please note clearly that all the Adventus' patents remain valid, in full force and effect.Though no one can ever predict the outcome of a lawsuit (or subsequent appeals), we are very confident that we will prevail and that RPI will be required to pay for its actions.

In addition to the individuals listed above, interested parties can call our patent counsel Paul Schaafsma of NOVUS IP (312-664-0906) or legal counsel Amiel Rossabi of Forman Rossabi Black (336-378-1899).
