EHC™ ISCR Technology: Widely Accepted, and Field Proven

On average, it takes the pharmaceutical industry about 8 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to bring a newly conceptualized drug to the commercial marketplace.

On average, it takes the pharmaceutical industry about 8 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to bring a newly conceptualized drug to the commercial marketplace. There are good reasons for that – one must typically follow the basic premise of Koch’s postulates and general scientific method, in order to generate statistically significant, scientifically defensible data to prove that the commercialized technology represents a safe, effective solution.

At Adventus, we have spent much time and treasure in developing our in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) technologies. While we do not expect competitors trained mainly in sales and marketing to either understand a need to follow the scientific method, nor appreciate its associated benefits, we do think that it would be a truly professional use of their skills to present an accurate picture of alternative technologies. Misinforming the marketplace with purposefully misleading statements, such as that “ISCR technologies are immature and experimental”, does not promise long-term credibility with knowledgeable decision makers. Nothing good is served, other than the potential for an increase in short-term revenue for firms focused more on their profit margins rather than true client service.

Since 1992, our flagship DARAMEND® ISCR technology has been widely used – without fail - to successfully treat over 1,500,000 tons of soil/sediment impacted by persistent organic compounds.  In 2002, we began laboratory testing of our new EHC™ formulations specially designed for subsurface/groundwater ISCR applications. Soon thereafter, field trials began.  Today, we have over 65 field-scale applications of the ISCR technology in North America alone (See Map) and rapidly growing acceptance from environmental engineers and regulatory professionals throughout the world.

Within the past calendar year, we have witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of inquiries related to potential applications of our ISCR technologies, with over 500 potential applications across the globe. Within the first 6 months of 2006, we posted over 250 inquiries.

Much laboratory work has been done and numerous field trials have been undertaken. From our perspective, these were required in order to ultimately commercialize an effective technology – at a fair price. And it is now clear that both the EHC™ and DARAMEND® ISCR technologies are field proven and widely accepted remedial solutions.  Where their use is appropriate, we look forward to working with you to address your most challenging environmental management responsibilities.
