Soil: Sites impacted by hazardous substances are a major environmental concern throughout the world. Significant financial and human resources are devoted for the remediation of such sites. Many steps have been taken to restrict or ban from use some contaminants (PCBs, IPA, CLB-derivatives) and reduce discharge of others. However, contaminants can persist for many years in soil and sediments, where they have the potential to adversely affect human health and the environmental. Adventus’ Soil Remediation technologies treat contaminated soils and sediments and the risks they pose. We offer leading technologies for dealing with soils and sediments, and reasonable approaches to management of the problem. Sediment: Advances in scientific understanding, engineering approaches, and remediation technologies to treat contaminated sediments are slowly making a difference in the industry’s ability to respond to and address contaminated sediment sites. Site owners face significant challenges in effectively combining technical knowledge, assessment and management frameworks, and governing policies and regulations to achieve human health and environmental protection goals. Adventus offers field proven sediment remediation technologies that can be a key component of contaminated sediment management.

Groundwater: The environmental industry has mounted a tremendous effort to mitigate groundwater contamination. Few successes have been achieved for several reasons including stringent drinking water standards (maximum contaminant levels or MCLs); and pump-and-treat that did not perform as projected. Adventus offers the best available in situ bioremediation and passive barrier technology for restoration of chlorinated solvent impacted soil and groundwater.  In most instances it is better than soil vapor extraction, bioventing, surfactants, and two-phase extraction.

Wastewater: Aerobic treatment of domestic (septic) wastewater leads to conversion of ammonia and other forms of nitrogen to nitrate, which is then discharged to groundwater or surface water. Nitrate can cause Methemoglobinemia, which affects the ability of infants, in particular, to utilize oxygen properly, and it can also contribute to water body eutrophication. Adventus offers ADU technology to reduce nitrate to below standard detection limits. Because of its unique patent pending design, if operated as directed the ADU will not only remove the nitrate, but also maintain low BOD and solids levels.
